Becoming a skilful communicator is fundamental to young children's learning and development. It enables the formation of relationships and friendships, facilitates self-expression and exploring feelings.
Children enjoy physical play, indoors and outdoors. They revel in freedom of movement and in play that is inventive, adventurous and stimulating. Children also learn social skills as they cooperate with one another and show consideration for one another.
Personal, social and emotional development supports children to learn to get on with others and make friends, understand and talk about feelings, learn about 'right' and 'wrong', develop independence and ultimately feel good about themselves.
Literacy in the early years includes talking about books, print in the environment, early mark making and writing, as well as sharing books and reading.
In our setting, children learn maths all the time through a wide variety of play experiences. This builds understanding of shapes, space, measures and numbers. We make it fun to learn maths.
Understanding the world is about how children get to know about other people, the place where they live and about all aspects of the environment.
Expressive arts & design is fundamental to successful developing and learning. Being creative enables children to make connections between one area of learning and another and to extend their understanding. This area of learning includes art, music, dance, role play and imaginative play.
