“Whistleblowing is when a worker reports suspected wrongdoing at work". Officially this is called "making a disclosure in the public interest".
This process is open to both our staff and parents whose children we care for.
A member of staff or parent can report things that aren’t right, are illegal or if anyone at work is neglecting their duties, including:
Ofsted suggests that workers should first read their employer's whistleblowing policy and then raise their concerns with their employer.
Given this we recommend that workers in our nursery adhere to the following procedure if they wish to make a disclosure in the public interest:
If the individual feels that they cannot speak to the manager, they can follow Ofsted’s suggestion of gaining free and confidential advice from the independent whistleblowing charity Public Concern at Work on 020 7404 6609 or email helpline@pcaw.co.uk
